2025 Public Diplomacy Festival : Global Dialogue in Action at GINUE

The Center for International Affairs and Public Relations at Gyeongin National University of Education (GINUE) has launched a three-week celebration of global engagement under the theme “Global Classrooms, Global Voices.” The 2025 Public Diplomacy Festival, running until June 6, is taking place at GINUE’s Gyeonggi Campus.

Jointly organized by GINUE, the Geographical Imagination Research Institute (GIRI), and the Great Geographic Society (GGS), this multidisciplinary festival explores public diplomacy across the fields of education, geography, diplomacy, and environmental studies.

📅 Weekly Highlights:

  • Week 1 (May 20–21): Warm-up and Introduction to Public Diplomacy
  • Week 2 (May 27–29): Guest Lectures by Regional Experts
  • Week 3 (June 2–6): Global Environmental Education Week, in celebration of World Environment Day

Week 2 features renowned scholars, including Professor Seongyong Kang (South Asia, Seoul National University), Professor Ijae Kim (Southeast Asia, GINUE), and Professor Hyundo Park (Middle East and Islam, Sogang University). Students will also have the opportunity to meet foreign diplomats and international mentors.

The opening message is delivered by Adelia, a popular Indonesian TV personality recognized for her lively appearances on KBS’s “Let’s Read the Map.” Her welcome video, created especially for the festival, is available on GINUE’s official social media channels.

In Week 3, the festival will align with World Environment Day, an international campaign launched by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in 1972. This year, the main global celebration returns to Korea for the first time in 28 years.

The festival is open to the public—including students from local elementary, middle, and high schools, university students, teachers, parents, and community members. Selected programs will be streamed live online.

A GINUE official commented:

“We hope this festival inspires students to see themselves as future leaders of diplomacy. We warmly invite everyone to take part.”
